Art Meets Science: Contrasting Corals in Ink on Watercolor

At Zoom

August 15, 2020 / 11:00 AM–12:00 PM

Expand your art skills and science knowledge from the comfort of your own home. Each class we’ll brush up on some cool science and then introduce new art media and techniques with a fun, interactive workshop.

Dive into the fascinating world of corals with marine biologist Stefanie Coleman. Learn about coral bleaching, stinging cells, and reproduction. Then paint and draw your own coral reef postcard, using watercolor overlaid with pen and ink in a step-by-step process modeled by artist Hilary George.

Supplies provided: watercolor paintbrush, two watercolor paper postcards, watercolor practice paper, selected Koi watercolor pigments in paint palette tray, permanent fine-tip pen, and washi tape.

Supplies are available for curbside pickup at the Museum or can be shipped to you (registration closes earlier for participants requiring shipments).
