Antique maps hold a fascination for many people. They condense historical and geographical material into a single document and appeal to our aesthetic sense as well as our intellect. These original maps on display represent early attempts to explore and map the Pacific coast.
The Kingdom of California features rare maps and books from the Map and Atlas Museum of La Jolla, the Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library and the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History's Rare Book Collection.
