Coastal Cleanup Day
At East Beach
In September, the Sea Center’s monthly beach cleanup falls on Coastal Cleanup Day, a massive coordinated effort to remove debris from beaches and waterways.
On Coastal Cleanup Day in 2023, Californians removed an astounding 188 tons of trash from beaches, inland sites, creeks, and rivers. In Santa Barbara County, over 1,200 volunteers picked up 2.87 tons of litter. Sea Center site captains helped 85 volunteers collect a whopping 2,770 pieces of trash. Let’s make the fortieth anniversary of CCD our biggest cleanup yet!
If you can, bring your own gloves and bags. Meet us on the beach behind the Skater's Point skate park and Palm Park parking lot at East Beach. All ages are welcome. Participants under 18 will need a waiver signed by their parent/guardian, and children under 14 must be accompanied by their parent/guardian.
Register online through Explore Ecology’s event listing on Eventbrite. When picking a location, choose “East Beach- Chase Palm/Garden Street” to clean with Sea Center staff and volunteers.
