Science Pub: Sexing the Skeleton - Nuancing Gender in Archaeology

At Zoom

August 12, 2019 / 6:30 PM–8:00 PM

Sex and gender are complicated, even after death! Join Anthropology Collections Manager Tacy Kennedy, M.A., to learn how archaeologists studying human remains tackle the complex task of estimating sex and ascribing gender in ancient cultures. Kennedy will discuss her master’s thesis research on medieval and post-medieval Irish sites, laying out sex-estimation parameters specific to the cultures and bodies of that time and place.

Join our fun and friendly conversation, and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature. No tickets or reservations required, but be sure to get to Dargan’s early for a seat and to order your favorite drink and food.

Free admission. Sponsored by HUB.
