Digital Membership Cards
We are so grateful for your membership support during this unprecedented time in our community and our world.
As part of our commitment to sustainable practices, the Museum is thrilled to launch a faster and greener way to deliver membership benefits to you, our Members.
Starting in March 2020, Members will have the opportunity to access your membership cards electronically. Digital membership cards will provide a more efficient and convenient way for Members to receive your cards, even getting your card the same day if you want! This environmentally-friendly approach supports the Museum's vision to connect people to nature for the betterment of both by reducing our environmental footprint. In the first year, this change will eliminate thousands of paper letters and envelopes and plastic cards.
Additionally, where plastic cards can be lost, stolen, or left behind, digital cards will live on your smartphone, and can be accessed anywhere you travel without the inconvenience of fumbling through a wallet to find the physical card. It’s a great way to access membership when visiting one of our 350 ASTC passport reciprocal museums.
Every current Museum Member will receive a link to download the digital membership card. If you still prefer the plastic card, you can opt-out by simply sending an email to email@example.com.

How will I use my digital membership card? Your digital membership card is unique to your membership and displays your name, membership level, expiration date, and a barcode. Simply show your digital membership card to our staff at the Admissions Office or Museum and Sea Center Stores to take advantage of your membership benefits.
How do I receive my digital membership card? Digital membership cards will be sent to the primary email address of every active Member. You will need to open this email on your mobile device and follow the instructions to download the card. The card will automatically be stored in your phone’s wallet app.
How do I install my digital membership card on my mobile device?
- For iPhone Users
Access the digital membership card email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click “Add to Wallet” and “Add.” The card will automatically go to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet. It can be accessed in the Wallet app at any time.
- For Android Users
Android users need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access the digital membership card email from your smartphone and click “Download” in the membership email, and the card will automatically go to your Wallet Passes app, where it can be accessed at any time.
How to share pass with co-cardholder
To send the card to your spouse or joint Member, click on the black circle with the three white dots on the top right corner of your membership card.
You will be directed to the backside of your membership card which lists all of your Member benefits. To share pass, click on the sharing link on the top right side. Please note: This cannot be sent by text, it must be sent by email.
I am not sure I received my digital card. Can you send it again? Yes! Please contact us at 805-682-4711 ext. 114 or firstname.lastname@example.org, and we can resend the email for you to download and enjoy your digital membership card. You may also want to check the Junk, Spam, and Unwanted folders of your email. The email subject line will start with, "Your New Membership Card."
Will my digital card update when I renew my membership? Yes! The digital card will automatically update when your membership information changes. For example, your expiration date and membership level will automatically update the next time you renew or upgrade your membership. This means that you only have to download the card once.
How will I receive my guest passes? Naturalist, Explorer, and Leadership Circles of Giving Members will receive their guest passes in the mail, even if they will be receiving a digital membership card.
How will my reciprocal benefits work when visiting other museums? Digital membership cards display the ASTC logo. Simply show your digital membership card at participating museums and science centers participating in the ASTC Passport Program to receive free or reduced admission!
Will my spouse also receive a digital membership card? Yes, for Family level and above, each Member will receive a unique digital membership card via email. If a membership with two members has only one email address on record, then both digital membership cards will be sent to this email address. Members can then forward the email or use the share feature of the wallet app to ensure that their spouse receives their digital membership card.
What if I prefer a plastic membership card? By default, all Members will now receive a digital membership card sent to the email address you provide. If you prefer to receive a plastic membership card instead, please contact us at 805-682-4711 ext. 114 or email@example.com. You can also indicate your preference to receive a plastic membership card as you join or renew your membership.
Can I update the email address(es) associated with my membership? Yes! Please contact us at 805-682-4711 ext. 114 or firstname.lastname@example.org to update your information. Please also review and update your contact information as you renew your membership.
