Legends of the Halls
Join us in August for this virtual Members-only series focusing on some of the amazing past events and people of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, and the impacts they had in shaping who we are today.
The Museum's relationship with the Santa Barbara art community began in the early 1920s when several of the artists-in-residence at the Santa Barbara School of the Arts were asked to lend their brushes to a little bird hall located within our original courtyard buildings. That hall is now long gone, along with its landscapes, but this tradition was carried on throughout the Museum as we expanded our mission.
Learn which Western art icons left their brushstrokes on our walls and hear the stories behind the Museum's diorama art and the natural landscapes that were once part of California's Central Coast scenery with Museum Librarian Terri Sheridan.
