Sustainable Seafood Program
The Sustainable Seafood Program is currently being re-structured and a new webpage is under construction.
The new Sustainable Seafood Program will focus on marine resources and fisheries local to Santa Barbara and will emphasize workshops and outreach events to provide educational tools to the stakeholders in the local seafood chain, including fishermen, distributors, fish mongers, chefs, consumers, scientists, and regulators.
By expanding our current program into a community-wide coalition with an educational focus we will provide a platform from which the stakeholders in our local seafood chain can gain tools needed to maintain and improve the sustainability of our local fisheries and marine resources.
The annual Sensation Seafood event will expand into a series of tasting events distributed throughout the year and designed to highlight and celebrate our local seafood. The first event in the series will occur on Thursday, October 9 and will celebrate the opening of California Spiny Lobster season. These events will help to raise funds to support the Sustainable Seafood Program.
