The Museum is embarking upon a series of ambitious and exciting projects this year that will make our campus more accessible, and even more engaging. And while the Museum will remain open during these renovations, there will be impacts upon our operations, including a significant amount of our onsite parking space dedicated for the use of the construction equipment and materials, and a renovation of the Mammal, Bird and Cartwright Exhibits Hall’s. Due to these impacts we will not be offering Group Rates at the Museum Campus this Fall or Winter.

Of course, the beautiful Sea Center on Stearns’s Wharf is always ready to welcome anyone who wants to get their hands wet touching sharks, rays, and tide pool animals and make a Group Reservation.

Group Visits FAQ

Can I visit the Museum or Sea Center anytime with my group?

The Museum & Sea Center is open from 10:00AM– 5:00PM seven days a week. You may reserve a group visit during normal operating hours.

Where can I park my tour bus?

At the Museum buses and private cars may park in the Museum Parking Lot. Busses visiting the Sea Center can park along Cabrillo Blvd. The parking lot at the intersection of Garden St and Cabrillo has a few oversized vehicle spaces that buses can utilize; cost is $4 an hour

What are our food options at the Museum and Sea Center?

The Museum has a beautiful picnic area alongside the creek and snacks available in the Museum Store and vending machines. You are welcome to bring your own picnic. Picnic area is available on a first come first serve basis.

The Sea Center is surrounded by local restaurants and the beach is always great for a picnic.

Can our group shop in the stores during our visit?

Of course! Our gift shops have great toys and gifts for all price ranges. Youth guests must be chaperoned and visit in groups of 10 or less. Depending on the group size there may be a time limit.  Please time appropriately with bus pick up.

Is the Museum & Sea Center wheelchair accessible?

All exhibits are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. At the Museum wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be checked out at the Museum’s Admissions Office by leaving a driver's license or other form of valid identification.

How do I reserve a visit for my group?

To reserve a group visit, e-mail the Museum or Sea Center at the information below.

What are my payment options?

We accept cash, checks, traveler’s checks, and credit cards.

Do I need to contact the Museum or Sea Center if the number in my group changes?

Unless the number in your group increases or decreases drastically, there is no need to contact us. On the day of your visit, you’ll pay the remaining balance based on your final group numbers. In order to receive the group discount, a minimum of 10 people is required.

How many chaperones do you recommend for group visits?

For every 10 youth guests we suggest an adult chaperone.

Will I get a refund if I need to cancel my visit or tour?

Cancellation with full refund is available if made no later than 3 business days prior to visit date.

What should we do when our group arrives at the Museum?

Please have your group gather at the Whale Skeleton (adjacent to the parking lot).  Have the group leader come to the Museum’s Admissions Office to pay the balance and get admission tickets and maps.  Bring your reservation form and be prepared to provide the number of guests in your group.

What should we do when our group arrives at the Sea Center?

Group leader should come straight to the Sea Center front desk while the rest of the group waits outside (weather permitting).

When I am at the Museum can I get tickets to the Planetarium?

Tickets to the Planetarium are $4 each and may be purchased the day of your visit.

Please see Planetarium schedule for shows and show times.
